“Liberate the 88%!”: Rep. Legarda echoes experts’ calls to prioritize Metro Manila majority of non-car owners

QUEZON CITY, June 11, 2020 – On the eve of Independence Day, Antique Representative and Deputy Speaker Loren Legarda headed a multisectoral call for government to move people, not cars, as the mobility talks she co-organized with the Climate Change Commission revolved around research that 88% of households in Metro Manila and the rest of the Greater Manila Area do not own cars, while the remaining 12% own at least one.

DPWH to prioritize bike lane for frontliners

Along with plans to build a bike lane along the Ortigas-Bonifacio Global City Bridge, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) also promised to prioritize pop-up bike lanes along hospital routes to assist frontliners and other employees looking for ways to get to work amid a lack of public transport.
